The Northeast Georgia Homeless Veterans Shelter  provides a stable home environment for veterans to reestablish themselves. We provide sleeping quarters, meals, employment assistance and general support for those who need a stable environment to get back on their feet and elevate themselves to self-sufficiently.

We are not supported by any military government agency, we applied for the homeless Veterans per- Diem grant. It was a national grant and Very competitive. We did not make the cut, but only missed it by a few point..we consider that a victory, because it speaks to the quality of our programming. This is solely a veterans supporting veterans ministry. Following are a few testimonials from Veterans that have come through the shelter. We strive to make these stories a possibility for everyone that comes to us for help.

 Ottis In His Own Words

"My name is Ottis (removed for privacy) and I function as the Administrator of the Northeast Georgia Homeless Veterans Shelter (NEGHVS)

I served for 20 years in the Army, and then worked 10 years as a government contractor. While serving on active duty and as a contractor, I traveled extensively to all parts of the globe. I lost my job due to the loss of major government contracts. This led to the loss of my family, home and all that I had worked for. This lead to complete depression and heavy drinking. Nothing that I tried could bring me out of that pit until I was welcomed into the NEGHVS on Christmas Eve of last year.
There I found not just shelter, but a home and comfortable atmosphere to redirect my life.

 Robert In His Own Words

"My name is Robert (removed for privacy) and I was homeless in Marietta, GA. I lived on the street for four days before I found a phone number for the Northeast Georgia Homeless Veterans Shelter. I called the Pastor and she ensured me that She had a room open in the shelter. I took a Greyhound bus from Atlanta, GA to Monroe, GA. She had someone pick me up and take me to the Shelter in Winder, GA. They went way out their way to help. Very nice sleeping area, showers and plenty of food. The Shelter helped me get back on my feet.

They helped me pretty much with finding a place to live with the right connections. The people at the Shelter went way out of their way to help me. The Shelter and the people that run it are a blessing."

 Michael In His Own Words

"The Northeast Georgia Homeless Veterans Shelter opened its doors to me in my time of need and has shown love and support through all of the steps that I have taken to get back on my feet. They encourage discipline, faith and hard work achieve one goal and they back us all the way. Thank you to all the staff, and I encourage any lost soul in the area to seek guidance here."

Joel In His Own Words

"This Northeast Georgia Homeless Veterans Shelter has been a godsend for me. It took me from sleeping outside in a field with no hope, to sleeping in a comfortable home. Pastor McKnight and Mr. John James were good at building up my confidence in myself. Also, I am employed now and have found permanent through the HUD VASH program."
We strive to do the most we can for the Veterans that we serve. Please consider donating today so that we can continue to do this work.
